WORCESTER – A software company based in central Massachusetts is the latest tenant to switch to One Mercantile.

ComputerVault Inc. signed an eight-year lease to One Mercantile effective January, moving its headquarters to downtown Worcester.

The Marlborough-based company will occupy 5,605 square feet of office space on the fifth floor of One Mercantile, according to Chip Norton, managing director of Mercantile Center, One Mercantile, the Worcester Business Center and the Southbridge Innovation Center.

“We are delighted to welcome ComputerVault to our property here at One Mercantile. We know that they will enjoy all of downtown Worcester with all it has to offer and that they will contribute to our thriving downtown community. city, ”Norton said. “Their commitment to join us for eight years is important, especially during the pandemic and the difficult times we are all living through. “

ComputerVault creates software products aimed at reducing the threat of malware and ransomware through virtual desktops, servers, hyperconverged infrastructure and IoT software with built-in cybersecurity.

One Mercantile, the 214,000 square foot downtown office building was previously occupied by Unum, but the insurance company decided to permanently vacate more than 125,000 square feet of office space last summer as employees switched to remote work.

Will Kelleher, Phil DeSimone and Jim Cozza of leasing agent Kelleher & Sadowsky represented the owner, Franklin Realty Advisors, in this transaction, with FRA being the development and management company of One Mercantile.

“We see ComputerVault as an industry leader and a highly respected trailblazer bringing growing technology companies to downtown Worcester,” Kelleher & Sadowsky’s Jim Cozza said in a statement.

ComputerVault vice president Marc Zarrella said the company’s management team had considered multiple cities for its headquarters, ultimately settling on Worcester as the “clear choice.”

“Working with the Worcester Office of Economic Development, we quickly realized that downtown Worcester is undergoing a renaissance, and One Mercantile is the first building,” said Zarrella, who is also responsible for revenue and partnerships at ComputerVault, in a press release. . “ComputerVault is growing explosively and we needed a remarkable property.”

It’s unclear whether ComputerVault is hiring, but Zarrella said the company is recruiting students and recent graduates from local universities to fill internships and open positions. He said Worcester’s proximity to such universities gives the growing company “even greater access to the high-level talent needed to meet our business goals.”
