Torch.AI buys software company B23 and appoints Brad Kolarov as vice president
Torch.AI has acquired data mining software company B23 for an undisclosed amount and announced the appointment of B23 founder and managing partner Brad Kolarov as vice president.
“The acquisition of B23 expands our current work supporting the United States Navy in an extraordinary way,” Brian Weaver, president and CEO of Torch.AI, said in a statement released Thursday.
Founded in 2014, Virginia-based B23 extracts actionable competitive insights from aggregated data sources and has developed maritime autonomy and artificial intelligence applications.
Torch.AI said it will combine B23’s machine learning experience with its Nexus software platform to improve customers’ data processing capabilities.
Kolarov spent nine years as a Navy SEAL officer and culminated his naval career as a lieutenant commander. He worked as an executive at Amazon Web Services before founding B23.
“We immediately saw how important the work of Brad and the B23 team was to the national security mission. These are tested capabilities and systems that, when combined with our platforms, will provide even more performance to our commercial and public sector customers,” added Weaver.
