The FACE consortium certifies 2 flight software tools manufactured by Collins Aerospace
Two flight software from Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies company, now meet the standards of the Open Group Future Airborne Capability Environment, also known as the FACE Consortium.
Collins said on Thursday that its mission flight management software and location and vertical guidance performance computer were FACE certified following the completion of an independent verification and certification process defined by the program.
The MFMS-1000 facilitates navigation and mission management for air operations in civil airspace, while the LPVC-1000 is designed to support precise satellite approaches and landings of fixed and rotary wing aircraft .
The certifications of the two software products follow those of the Avoidance Re-router software, which received FACE certification in 2017.
“These certifications are an important milestone for us as they align with the Department of Defense Open Systems Modular Approach Standards,” said Dave Schreck, vice president and general manager of military avionics and helicopters. at Collins Aerospace.
He said the standards aim to reduce the time it takes to integrate flight systems and foster innovation at an affordable price.
