Belfast software publisher WorkPal joins forces with Cancer Care to encourage men to volunteer as champions of health
A Belfast software company has partnered with Cancer Care to encourage men to volunteer as workplace health champions.
The charity works in partnership with WorkPal, which develops and implements workforce management software.
He says about four in ten cancers could be prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle. The charity has now launched fundraising plans and other initiatives for 2022, including the Health Champion program.
Cancer Care said 14 men in Northern Ireland are diagnosed with cancer every day, with men more likely to wait up to two years before contacting their GP about symptoms.
Now Cancer Care and WorkPal are inviting men to take the WorkPal Pledge and volunteer to become a champion of workplace health.
A men’s health toolkit is available, describing cancer prevention and support services for men, as well as how to access cancer information on signs and symptoms, and tools self-care online to improve mental well-being.
Action Cancer also offers health check-ups at Action Cancer House in Belfast or on its Big Bus, integrating checks including blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar.
