Belfast software company WorkPal partners with CancerCare to encourage men to volunteer as health champions
A Belfast software company has partnered with CancerCare to encourage men to volunteer as workplace health champions.
The charity works in partnership with WorkPal, which develops and implements workforce management software.
It indicates that approximately four out of 10 cancers could be prevented by following a healthy lifestyle. The charity has now launched fundraising plans and other initiatives for 2022, including the Health Champion scheme.
Cancer Action said 14 men in Northern Ireland are diagnosed with cancer every day, with men more likely to wait up to two years before contacting their GP about symptoms.
Now CancerCare and WorkPal are inviting men to take the WorkPal Pledge and volunteer to become a workplace health champion.
A Men’s Health Toolkit is available, outlining cancer prevention and support services available to men, as well as how to access cancer information on signs and symptoms, and tools for online self-care to improve mental well-being.
Action Cancer also offers health checks at Action Cancer House in Belfast or on its Big Bus, incorporating checks including blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar.
