Assent Becomes the First North American Software Company to Achieve Both B Corp Certification and “Advanced Status” with the United Nations Global Compact
OTTAWA, Ontario–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Assent Inc. (Assent), a Leader in Sustainable Supply Chain Management, Achieved B Corporation Certification™ status. The company joins an elite group of global sustainability leaders certified by the non-profit organization B Lab™ to meet strict social and environmental performance and transparency requirements.
Founded in 2010 with the goal of transforming the way complex manufacturers manage compliance across supply chains, Assent works with companies, such as GE Appliances, to follow sustainable supply chain practices through to parts of parts.
Over the past five years, Assent has accelerated its own commitment and efforts to generate positive social and environmental impacts within the company and among the customers it serves.
In 2021, Assent launched a company-wide survey to identify additional ways to create a more inclusive and diverse workforce. As a result, the company has incorporated social and environmental principles into the formal training of new hires and existing employees to embed inclusivity into the organizational culture, an essential quality as Assent seeks to rapidly expand its team of 40% by 2022. Additionally, the survey highlighted team members’ deep commitment to Assent’s focused work to help manufacturers produce responsible products.
“This exciting milestone reflects our organization’s deep commitment to embedding sustainability not just throughout our organization, but as part of how we drive positive impacts for our communities and the customers we serve,” said Andrew. Waitman, CEO of Assent. « Reaching B Corp Certification is an important step in our journey as we improve our social and environmental performance and continue our efforts to help complex manufacturers build more sustainable and responsible supply chains.
Assent is also one of the few North American SaaS companies to hold “advanced status” with the United Nations Global Compact. The company works with a wide range of stakeholders to hear diverse perspectives, including feedback from beneficiaries, shareholders, customers and supply chain partners, to inform its development commitments and approach sustainable.
“As our clients continue to adapt to evolving sustainability and ESG standards and regulations, it is important for our organization to also elevate our approach to corporate sustainability,” said Sarah Carpenter, Director, Corporate Responsibility, Assent. “This achievement reflects the progress we have made over the past five years and I am excited to continue to advance our social and environmental sustainability performance as we help our customers do the same.”
