Amazon confirms acquisition of multi-channel software company Veeqo

Amazon today confirmed that it has acquired multi-channel software company Veeqo, in what has been another stealth acquisition by the company. While Amazon has remained silent on the deal so far, the deal was actually announced on the company’s blog on November 2 last year.

This acquisition is very similar to that of the Australian multi-channel company Selz which Amazon also acquired more than a year ago. Likewise, there was no official announcement from Amazon but just a banner confirming the deal that appeared on Selz’s website.

Amazon revives Shopify competition by buying Veeqo?

This led to the question, why would Amazon need multi-channel software, especially when they have already acquired Selz who have done similar work?

“We are delighted that Veeqo has joined Amazon. Veeqo is an innovative company that helps sellers manage their multi-channel business and delivers an exceptional buyer experience,”

“We plan to continue investing in new features and enhancements to help Veeqo serve sellers worldwide from its headquarters in Wales, facilitate the growth of sellers’ multi-channel businesses and improve their customer experience. “

Perhaps most interesting is the fact that Veeqo’s tools gave sellers access to tools specific to selling on Shopify, which Amazon now has access to. Amazon has sought to lure sellers into its multi-channel fulfillment program by lowering prices as other third-party logistics providers and companies like Shopify, UPS and FedEx have all launched their own fulfillment services, competing with the e-commerce giant.

Either way, access to this software will potentially add a whole new set of selling tools for all Amazon sellers, which could potentially mean they no longer need to rely on other third-party tools or platforms.
